Our broken government has forgotten it only exists to work for the people — it’s time to fix that.

UNION JOBS

UNION-MADE ENTREPRENEUR WITH SMALL BUSINESS ROOTS, EMPOWERING PEOPLE TO REBUILD THIS COUNTRY.
Michigan’s industrial base is what made this country great. We need to continue to support strong union jobs and lose our dependency on China.
Nasser is an immigrant son of a proud UAW member whose family came to this country from Lebanon to create a better life. His own experiences reflect the importance of unions and small businesses in achieving the American Dream and creating a more prosperous country. His successful career in business is driven by a work ethic inspired by his father’s career in Ford Motor Company manufacturing plants and his aunts’ successful M & W tailor shop in West Michigan.
An entrepreneur and small business owner at heart, Nasser has successfully launched Wataniya Restaurants, Inc, the Magna Merchant Services business solutions firm, and Bargain Club retail store. Nasser currently serves as principal owner of EZ Business Solutions, a Michigan-based consulting firm, and is founder of District 12 Restaurants in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights.

COMMUNITY BUILDER WORKING FOR THE GREATER GOOD BECAUSE WE’RE SO MUCH STRONGER TOGETHER.
First and foremost, we need to stop Wall Street from ruining our Main Streets. Capitalism works, but only when it’s fair – and in recent years, our government has been distracted by special interests that don’t have the good of our communities as their top priority.
Understanding the connection between economic opportunity and racial justice, Nasser has worked to bring revitalization and community development to underserved areas in Metro Detroit while supporting entrepreneurs of all backgrounds. He believes any person can be successful with the right opportunity. Leading the American Arab Chamber of Commerce, he built the Chamber into the largest American Arab business organization in the U.S., and he has been instrumental in supporting the growth of one of the most prosperous and affluent communities in nation.
Committed to neighborhood revitalization, Nasser has also helped support African American entrepreneurs and other underserved and under-represented people. He has served as vice chairman of the New Detroit Coalition while sitting on the executive boards of the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation and Detroit Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. Nasser also founded Clark Street Boxing Gym, a nonprofit serving children in Southwest Detroit.
REPRODUCTIVE
RIGHTS
IT’S NOT OUR JOB TO REGULATE WHEN OR HOW POEPLE HAVE FAMILIES.
Roe v. Wade was the law of the land until a rise of radical conservatives decided they wanted to strip rights away from women in our country. And it is clear now that they won't stop at Roe. Now many conservatives are trying to regulate couples who want to use IVF to start a family. The government has no place regulating how, if, or when people want to start a family.
As your next U.S senator, Nasser will call on his colleagues in the Democrat party to follow up with their promise to Codify Roe v Wade. He will fight to protect the right to choose, access to contraception, along with IVF and similar treatments. He will also push for a law to prevent insurance companies from denying coverage for birth control, as many people use them for reasons other than contraception.
SOCIAL JUSTICE &
HUMAN RIGHTS

CIVIL RIGHTS ADVOCATE FOR ALL WHO BELIEVES EVERYONE DESERVES TO BE HEARD.
For more than two decades, Nasser has been a fierce advocate for civil rights, calling out injustice wherever it exits. He’s known for building coalitions that promote understanding and bring people together to work toward common goals that benefit all involved. Since 2015, he has led the ACRL, an organization dedicated to equal rights and protections for people of all backgrounds.
Nasser previously played a key role in developing and hosting the first U.S.-Arab Economic Forum in 2003 bringing together leaders from across the United States and Arab world to build relationships between the two regions. He has also challenged the government on the no-fly, watch list where he successfully sued them due to their targeted attacks on Arab and Muslim Americas. Nasser has worked with coalitions in the Black community to build better understanding between Arab and Black communities. He has been an active voice in calling for the freedom and self-determination of the Palestinian people and he has also been a fierce advocate for immigration rights
TEACHERS &
EDUCATION

A PRODUCT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION THAT BELIEVES INVESTING IN OUR FUTURE MEANS PROVIDING QUALITY EDUCATION.
Nasser is a proud product of public education and it is incumbent on our nation to ensure that our education system is world-class. That means actually supporting its teachers, investing in the curriculum and ensuring its accessibility to all students. Education is the only thing that truly breaks the cycle of poverty and it's on our leaders to provide that basic necessity.
It begins with the teachers – without financially supporting our educators, we will never elevate our classrooms. Teachers shouldn’t have to work more than one job just to get by on their basic living needs or pay out of pocket for classroom necessities. It’s on our government to ensure we are giving teachers the respect and compensation they deserve.
Nasser is a first generation American to graduate from university. His parents immigrated here with the hopes of ensuring they provided their children with access to the American dream through education. His parents never achieved a high school degree but made sure they instilled the importance of a well-rounded education both in academics and understanding how to navigate everyday life.
Nasser attended K-12 public education through Dearborn Public Schools. He received an associates degree from Henry Ford Community College and his Bachelors of Business Administration with an emphasis in finances and marketing from the University of San Diego and MBA from the University of Michigan. He previously served on the board of Henry Ford Community College Foundation and is an active parent of his son who attends Dearborn Public Schools
HEALTHCARE
HEALTHCARE IS A BASIC HUMAN RIGHT.
There is absolutely no denying that every American should have access to quality healthcare no matter who they are or where they live. Medicare for all should be a fundamental right. We need to end the vicious cycle of being beholden to big Pharma and protect our health and the health of our loved ones from those that see dollar signs with doctor appointments.
Nasser understands the importance of reforming healthcare in our country because of how he has been personally impacted by the system. As a small business owner, his healthcare costs him $1500 a month out of pocket. He has another $8000 to reach his deductible. These expenses do not cover a lot of the basic services required.
Majority of bankruptcies are medically related and this is why Nasser supports a tax-payer funded healthcare system and medicare for all.
NATIONAL
SECURITY
NO MORE FUNDING SENSELESS WARS. IT’S TIME WE REINVEST IN OUR COMMUNITIES
America needs to end its dependency on conflict and stop funding endless wars overseas. Our government should be seen as a responsible nation and only engage when there’s a real threat to our own country’s safety and values. No more spending billions to fight a war that’s not ours or deploying our own men and women with no return date unless the safety and security of our communities is truly at risk.
As a first generation Lebanese American, Nasser understands the importance of protecting our democracy. With ties to the Middle East, he also deeply understands how wars wreak havoc on innocent civilians in ways that are often times irrevocable and damaging. His deep love for this country as well as his homeland brings a unique perspective to his view on national security where he believes America can be the leading nation in prioritizing peace as a pathway to freedom and equity for all. He believes that America has what it takes to model for the rest of the world what it looks like to build allegiances across the globe in a way where we continue to prioritize instilling peace and democracy across countries without using war as a means to that end.
We also can’t afford to stay silent when injustice is happening at our own hands – that’s why Nasser has been a loud advocate for ending the American funding of Israeli bombs and calling for a permanent ceasefire.
ENVIRONMENT
INVESTING IN OUR FUTURE MEANS PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT.
It is an undeniable fact that climate change is a serious threat to Michigan and the country as a whole. It not only jeopardizes the natural resources we all depend on – it also puts our infrastructure, health, economy and national security at risk. Ultimately, we don't inherit the environment from our parents, we borrow it from our children. That's why it's time that we invest in our future and demand the protection of our environment and resources be taken seriously.
Nasser will work with state government to make Enbridge comply with Governor Whitmer's order to shut down line 5. He also commits to helping create a budget so we can invest in becoming a more sustainable country. By cutting excess spending in our military budget and making corporations and the rich pay their fair share, we can invest in sustainable practices like renewable energy, carbon-neutral vehicles, and improving our public transportation. Ultimately we can pass more Green New Deal legislation. It's time to act before it's too late
